A severe food allergy is defined as a dangerous or life threatening reaction to a food-borne allergen introduced by inhalation, ingestion, or skin contact that requires immediate medical attention. If a licensed physician’s assessment indicates the student has food allergies which may result in severe, life-threatening (anaphylactic) reactions, the child’s condition would meet the definition of “disability,” and the substitutions prescribed by the licensed physician will be accommodated.
