Recorder Order

Dear 4th and 5th Grade Parents,

My name is Heather Lyman and I teach music at Golden Spike. I’m excited to get to work with your kids this year! They are so much fun to teach. :)

I’m going to be teaching the recorder to the 4th and 5th graders this year. The recorder is a valuable tool in teaching music. I can begin to teach basic note reading, rhythm recognition, and group playing. It also helps to prepare them for playing a wind instrument in 6th grade if they choose.

There will be 3 options for getting a recorder:

1. You can purchase a recorder through the school. You can either pay online AT www.successfund.com/gsrecorders or you can bring in $3.50 cash to the office by Oct. 27th.

2. You can bring your recorder from home.

3. You can use one of the recorders the school owns. These recorders have been sanitized and are ready to be used. I will check out a recorder for your student to use and it will be returned to me at the end of the year.

Please fill out this form by October 27th, so I know how many recorders I need to order. I will be placing the order on Oct. 30th so if you will be purchasing a recorder through us you will also need to pay online or bring the money to the school by Oct. 27th.

If I don’t hear a response from you, I will check out a school recorder for your student.

I plan to use the recorders for a month at a time sprinkled throughout the year. I will let your kids know beforehand when they need to bring them in. I would like them to keep the recorders here while they are being used and then they can take them home at the end of the month. If you choose to use the school’s recorder, I will keep them stored here when they are not using them.

Let me know if you have any questions. My email is heather.lyman@besd.net. Thanks!
