“I love first grade and I love teaching reading! I graduated from Weber State University and have taught Reading Recovery and reading interventions for many years. I enjoy hanging out with my husband and four children, listening to audio books and going on long walks. I like spring and summer when I can work in my garden and plant more flowers.” Our first grade team is lucky to have Kristina Harris!

“I am a mom and wife and I love teaching! This will be my 8th year and I enjoy the challenge and new students each year brings to my classroom. I look forward to working with students and parents to create a successful year for all.” Jenna Sheets will be joining our first grade team and will do amazing!

Parents, We are in the final stages of assigning students to class lists. We will let you know when the assignments have been solidified so you can log into Passport and see who your child has for the upcoming school year. Kindergarten teachers will be completing the initial assessment starting on August 29 so stay tuned for sign-ups.

“This will be my third year teaching, and my second year teaching fourth graders. I enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids, and being in the outdoors.” We’d love to welcome Dallin Gittins to the 4th grade team!

“I got my bachelor degree in China, and master degree in Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, GA. I have been a teacher for several years, but just moved to Utah last year. I love being a teacher. I love to see how different students have such variety of weakness and strength. As a teacher, my goal is helping each student build their confidence while they are learning at school. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family. I like hiking, reading, so many fun things.” Maggie Bai is one of our first grade duel language immersion teachers and we are so lucky to have her!

“I am a dedicated and passionate educator in Box Elder School District. I love to garden, read, paint and travel. My favorite thing in all the world is spending time with my precious family.” We’d love to welcome Michele Simpson as one of our first grade dual immersion teachers!

“I believe every child to be capable of learning at high levels. This is why I encourage struggle and failure, so every child's eventual success really means something. I enjoy the learning. I enjoy the laughter. I enjoy the challenge. I enjoy watching them grow in knowledge and ability. Everyone should always be learning, including me. I am learning to play the piano, be a good listener, and to work in the yard even though I don't like it. Besides teaching, I enjoy reading, exercising, and building puzzles.” The kindergarten team is so lucky to have Lynette Tervort!

“I am from Tremonton, UT. I love to spend time with my family & friends, play pickleball, go camping, and read. I’m so excited to be at Golden Spike with all the amazing teachers and students!” Welcome to Golden Spike Tayler Kent!

“I have been a para for 7 years and I just finished my bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I have 4 children who I love spending time with. I love to travel especially if it’s at the beach.” Jamie Keller will be joining our kindergarten team.

“I am a Chinese teacher in our school. In my classroom, I love to guide my students to experience, to feel, to pursue, to harvest! Good intentions are worth a lot when they lead to good actions. I believe learning happens when my students all enjoy the process.” Lian Wu (Sola) will be joining our 4th grade team teaching duel immersion.

Our Wednesday teacher introduction is Katrina Argyle. We are so excited to have her join the 3rd grade team! “I have been teaching for 23 years. I love to travel, quilt, camp and play with my grandkids. I'm excited to start this new adventure, in the new school, with new friends.”

For today’s teacher feature, we would like to introduce Ngoc Minh Anderson as our Art Teacher! “I love all forms of art including drawing, painting, jewelry making, printmaking and ceramic. In my free time I like to work in my vegetable garden, cooking, and go on camping trips with my husband, son, and two dogs. I am also a passionate creator; when inspirations strike me, you can find me working on multiple projects in my little studio.”

We would love to welcome Riley Davis to our second grade team. She is awesome and the kids will love her! "I’m Riley Davis! I just got married to my husband who I met at Utah State a few years ago! I have a one year old goldendoodle named captain who is full of love and energy and we go hiking and to the park often! I love books, music and camping, I also love plants and am often in my garden, I love learning and trying new things!"

Hello all, my name is Dax Sederholm. I am going to the assistant principal at Golden Spike Elementary this year. I am so excited to get to be a part of this awesome school. I love being in education and have experience as an elementary teacher, secondary teacher, a mentor to new teachers, and a technology coach. I have an amazing wife and three beautiful daughters. I like to spend time with my family, sports, and about anything that involves being outside. This coming school year is going to be the best and I can’t wait to start getting to know you all.

This is just the first of many introductions to the staff of Golden Spike Elementary! My name is Shaylyn Ekins and I will be your principal. I am convinced that being an educator is the best gig out there…and I absolutely love being a principal! Golden Spike will be the third school that I have had the privilege to lead…and I truly consider it a privilege. I love working with the dedicated teachers and support staff…they love your children and want them to succeed and so do I! I am so excited to meet your students and interact with you as parents to meet the needs of your children. So here we go…this is going to be an amazing year!
